When Everybody Needs You, But You’re Running Out of You!
Finding Quiet Strength Before the Holiday Rush Begins
Fall is beautiful—but it can also be the beginning of one of the busiest seasons of the year.
The weather changes. The holidays start appearing everywhere. Family plans begin. Budgets get tighter. Caregiving responsibilities don’t stop. Work still needs to be done. And before we know it, we’re thinking about Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas gifts, travel, decorating, church programs and everybody else’s expectations.
For many women, October is when the pressure quietly starts building.
“You don’t have to wait until you’re exhausted to give yourself permission to slow down.”
Before the Holidays Get Here
This year, don’t wait until December to realize you’ve stretched yourself too thin.
Ask yourself: What can I let go of? Where do I need a boundary? What am I spending that I don’t need to spend? Who can help me instead of me doing everything myself? And when was the last time I made room for me?
The holidays don’t have to be perfect to be meaningful.
Your house doesn’t have to look like a magazine. You don’t have to buy everybody everything they want. You don’t have to attend every gathering. And you certainly don’t have to carry every family responsibility alone.
Sometimes Quiet Strength sounds like: “No, I can’t do that this year.”
And that’s okay.
Decorate With Joy—Not Pressure
Fall décor is everywhere, and before we’ve finished enjoying the pumpkins, the Christmas trees are already going up!
It’s easy to start thinking, I need that wreath. I need new pillows. I need Christmas decorations. I need to redo the whole room.
But do you?
There’s nothing wrong with purchasing a few beautiful things that make your home feel warm and welcoming. The problem begins when decorating becomes another source of pressure—or another bill you’ll be worrying about in January.
Before you buy, ask yourself: Do I really love it? Will I use it again? Does it fit my budget? Can I mix it with the décor I already own?
“Create a home you enjoy—not a holiday bill you regret.”
Pull out what you already have. Move things into a different room. Change a pillow cover instead of replacing furniture. Add a throw, candle, centerpiece or wreath. Then, if you find something special that fits your budget, enjoy it without guilt.
Beautiful doesn’t have to mean expensive.

Give Yourself Somewhere to Put It All
This is also a wonderful season to start journaling.
Not because you need one more thing to do, but because sometimes we need somewhere to put the thoughts we’re carrying.
Write the prayer. Write the worries. Write the idea. Write what you’re grateful for. Write what you’re ready to release. Write the dream you’ve been putting off while taking care of everybody else.
“Sometimes clarity begins when you finally put on paper what you’ve been carrying in your head.”

Go Into the Holidays Differently This Year…
Before shopping. Before the cooking. Before the invitations. Before the family expectations.
Decide what you want this season to feel like.
Maybe your word is peace.
Maybe it’s joy.
Maybe it’s simplicity.
Maybe it’s simply enough.
“You are allowed to enjoy the season you’re working so hard to create for everyone else.”
Take care of the people you love—but make room for yourself, too.
That’s Quiet Strength.
